Device Development

Our Device Design Engineers are at the heart of our business, developing innovative products from specification design to manufacturing. Working with teams across the business, they create new, potentially life-changing products, such as our innovative smart nebulisers that electronically control the inhalation cycle to optimally deliver drugs to patients.

Join us and you’ll discover an exciting, fast-moving engineering environment, where you’ll be working alongside highly-experienced and supportive engineers, with the chance to help us deliver our innovative pipeline of new products.

Quality Engineering

Quality Engineering is incredibly important to our work, because we need to meet all regulatory standards. For example, with medical devices class 11a we need to to ensure that every patient gets the right medication and the right device to treat their condition.

Join our new Quality Engineering team at Cambridge and you’ll develop strong working relationships with Vectura teams in the city and around the world, as well as external suppliers, partners and manufacturers. It’s a varied and interesting role, from addressing patient feedback about products already on the market, to taking new products through the manufacturing process.

Meet some of our team

"What attracted me to Vectura 15 years ago was the opportunity to work on medical devices and help to improve patients’ lives. The chance to develop products from a concept to the final device also appealed to me. I’ve got some great colleagues here in Cambridge. It’s a relatively small team - there are 35 of us at the moment - so there’s a real family feeling. Everybody gets stuck in and we help each other out. There are lots of social activities as well, so we get the job done and have fun at the same time."

Andreas Meliniotis. Director, Device Design

"What I was really looking for was a mixture of human factors and design assurance, but I didn't think that role was really out there. It turned out that Vectura were looking for pretty much exactly that. Our Cambridge site is a friendly and collaborative environment. Because it's quite small you really get to know the people that you're working with. Which makes working as a team much more enjoyable. So, if you're interested in medical devices or pharmaceutical products, and want to work for a business that is having a positive impact on people's lives, then Vectura is a great place to do just that."

Sarika Joshi. Engineer, Human Factors and Device Assurance

"The great thing about Vectura is it’s all-embracing inhalation product portfolio ranging from DPIs over pMDIs to smart inhalation devices and all the drugs that go along with them. Working in the field of electronic inhalation devices for the past 16 years we've learned how to optimise the intake of respiratory drugs in an unprecedented way. We have technologies that really make a difference in patients' lives and improve their quality of life. Working with our interdisciplinary teams and actually seeing the results of our work is a hugely rewarding experience."

Tobias Kolb. Director, Device Development

"Quality Engineering is incredibly important to our work, because we need to ensure that every patient gets the right medication and the right device to treat their condition. In fact, it’s vital work. It’s not a routine job. Because there’s lots of variety, no two days are the same. You’re working on lots of different products at the same time and dealing with everyone from the Device Engineers to materials manufacturers, suppliers and device manufacturers."

Gaëlle Bohrer. Director, Commercial Quality
